Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique physical therapists use for the treatment of pain and movement impairments. The technique uses a “dry” needle as opposed to one that has a medication. It is inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle commonly called trigger points. The sole purpose of the dry needle is to treat “trigger points” located within the muscles. Trigger points can actively be causing the pain in tissue or can alter or affect the mechanics of how tissue should function.

Only certified physical therapists are allowed to perform this procedure in Florida. This technique can release or inactivate trigger points to relieve pain or improve range of motion.
