Jeffrey Tucker has been practicing as a licensed physical therapy on the Treasure Coast for over 20 years. He is a graduate from one of the top physical therapy programs in the country, Slippery Rock University. Training under the past president of the American Physical Therapy Association, Jeffrey graduated in 1993 and began working at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. North Carolina Baptists Hospital, known as a level one 1000+ bed trauma hospital, provided Jeffrey vast experience in treating burns, wound care, acute care, open heart conditions, trauma, sports medicine and orthopedic injuries. In fact after just 1 year working at the hospital, one of the main Sports Medicine physicians in the area already required Jeffrey to personally see his orthopedic patients.
In 1995 Jeffrey was recruited by Healthsouth in Port St Lucie, Florida to be the primary therapist in their outpatient department. After only 6 months, he was again recruited and offered the position of Director of Rehabilitation at St Lucie Medical Center. During his 5 years as Director, he managed to grow a extremely small department and staff of therapists from 3 to over 25 including a nearly 450% increase in volume and space as well as a solid reputation with physicians. He developed new programs such as Cardiac rehab, Community Fitness Center, brought Occupational and Speech Therapy to the hospital and was responsible for its first large rehabilitation expansion. He was recognized as a top leader by The Joint Commission (formally JCAHO). He developed the county wide sports medicine program where staff covered EVERY St Lucie County High School’s athletic events for injuries and treatment.
Additionally, Jeffrey spent hours performing community services to raise money for different charities. Once again he was heavily recruited in 1999, this time by a large Orthopedic group in Port St Lucie to open and manage a Physical Therapy department. After successfully doing so, he decided to take his vast knowledge and experience and open his own practice in October 2001. Jeffrey used the positives of his past experiences and eliminated the negatives of the “corporations” and created Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, Inc.
Today, Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine has been in operation for over 15 years. It has grown to include 4 locations throughout the Treasure Coast and plans to add more in the near future. Their reputation is un-comparable to all other physical therapy providers in the area. Not only has Premier gained the respect of all surrounding physicians, but has also secured all the major contracts to eliminate unnecessary out of network payments by patients. “We have successfully made it possible for patients to receive the best in personalized one on one care while eliminating the stresses of much of the cost that would be incurred by going out of network.” It is that formula, combined with the caring, friendly atmosphere that has made Premier Physical Therapy the recognized choice of thousands over the past few years. There have been many competitors past and present and some with similar names creating only confusion but none have been able to replicate the care, success, outcomes and patient satisfaction that has come with the results seen at Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine.
Additionally, Jeffrey has been a past committee member of Indian River State College. He has been a lecturer for their Physical Therapy Assistant Program and provides training to future therapists. He enjoys boating, camping, traveling, working out and most importantly spending time with his lovely and supportive family. Jeffrey was married in November of 2001 to his lovely wife Lori. They are blessed with two incredible children, Zachary and Caden. They continue to reside in Jensen Beach and are surrounded by incredible friends, family and past and present patients.
I brought my 3-year-old son to Premier Physical Therapy after he suffered a broken elbow. He received 5 weeks of therapy under their expert care. I found each and every staff member that I encountered to be extremely competent and professional. They truly went the extra mile to make my son feel at ease while being treated. I never would have guessed that the hard work of physical therapy would actually become a positive experience that my 3-year-old looked forward to! Through Premier's outstanding treatment, my son's elbow is completely rehabilitated with his range of motion back to normal. Premier Physical Therapy, thank you so much for the exceptional care that you provide!
I recently completed a program of orthopedic therapy from Premier after a bi-lateral TKR (replacement of both knees) earlier this year. The therapy I received was first class. My therapist was highly trained and a pleasure to work with, and the Premier facilities were much better than others I had considered. Needless to say, the therapy I received was completely successful and both I and my surgeon were very pleased with the result. I highly recommend Premier for anyone considering physical therapy. As a final note, I might add that Ill be skiing again with my family next week in Colorado!
I would like to thank the therapists at Premier Physical Therapy at St. Lucie West for being a vital part of my physical recovery from a stroke that I had in February 2010. Kelly Hadley and Tanesha Upton are outstanding therapists that went above and beyond to make me stronger and more determined to overcome my balance issues. In two months time, they helped me to strengthen my core which gave me more stability and physical stamina that I lacked after the stroke. They have inspired me to make exercise a daily part of my life in order to reach my goal of peak physical fitness and health. Never give up! With many thanks and deep gratitiude,
